A Five Second Walk Could Save a Child's Life
Backing injuries an increasing problem for children. (July 16, 2007)- Almost 2,500 children per year ages 1-14 reported to emergency rooms with non-fatal motor-vehicle backing injuries in the United States from 2001-2003.
 
National Cancer Survivor's Day- June 23
(August 21, 2006) - The best defense for surviving prostate cancer remains to be early detection. For this reason, local health advocates are planning a special prostate cancer screening clinic September 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program
This program provides nutrition education and food vouchers to low-income mothers who are pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding, and to children under age 5. The WIC Clinic is located at 4640 South 25th Street (25th and L Streets). To reach the clinic, call (402) 734-2028.
 
Medicaid Enrollment
OneWorld provides assistance in applying for Medicaid. To qualify for Medicaid, a person must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States and meet income guidelines. Unborn children are also eligible for Medicaid.
 
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program
OneWorld offers educational follow-up, care coordination, management and peer education, including care for sexually transmitted diseases, latent tuberculosis, high lead levels, prenatal care and care for chronic diseases: asthma, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and depression.
